Soubirou Frederick is a man of his word. He was committed to the grant of the road to Bordeaux, in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, to visit them whenever the opportunity would allow him to leave the Centre style of PSA, where he designed the DS3 for down in his fortified home. The designer has honored his promise yesterday by offering its presence a spotlight on the city's upscale Citroën uses since March as a new standard of modernity.
At 35, he belongs to the very closed circle of automotive designers whose sketches are realized on the roads. When he and his ten colleagues were instructed to look at the exterior look of the new product in competition, he made his usual: a large sketch as a post-it, so concentrate on the essentials ("A car is it hangs right away, or it disappears in the flow ").
"Different Spirit"
It is not based on the flagship model of the "Thirty Glorious Years". Anyway, the command does not take this complaint. Today, for its designer, only refer to the initials "Different Spirit" and certainly not to his ancestor who left him a legacy as the only floating roof. About his part in line with the builder who says he wants to rewrite the myths, not resuscitate them.
Very humbly, almost shyly, he recounts the meeting times to defend the shark fin on the wings, the lights under the side mirrors and the general enthusiasm about the project: "It is much more raucous than many cars its class, "he found there. The Villeneuvois not hide quite proud of the baby who, in his view, does not lack personality: "There is something going around. I'm super happy, "says he, referring to the first gathering of the community Citroen Valley DS3 Chevreuse, on 10 July.
He is passionate and describes a community of enthusiasts. For Villeneuve, he grew up Monfabès, not far from the existing garage of one of his former idols, Hugues Delage. He learns to hold a pen to École Clément-Marot and password as many Villeneuvois by Anatole France and Georges Leygues: "I doubt that my art teacher in college to be remembered," he laughs. In summer, he picks up plums from his uncle. Tray in hand, he wants to draw cars. He prides himself in school design Créasud Bordeaux and specializes in automotive design at Strate College in the Hauts-de-Seine.

If asked to do some internships here and there (Berton and Peugeot), it switches very quickly into the fold of Citroen. He joined as an intern in the fall of 1999. PSA hiring in 2000.
